1UZFE > JZX100

Post by BrownoutsJZX »

So. I've been keeping an eye out for a 1uzfe as theyre so bloody cheap for a 100% repower package (engine,gearbox,loom+ecu etc.) . I'm thinking about buying one and putting a dirty great big supercharger on it.
I havent done much study on the ol' toyota's as im still born an bred nissan lover (hehe) . But can people give me advice on whether the 1jz have same engine mounts that will bolt straight up with the v8? and if i end up buying just the engine, what gearboxes bolt up to 'em ?

Thanks.

niteB on these forums makes adaptor plates/bell housings for w series boxs to jam on 1uz'z have a yarn to him about that type of thing

there is a x90 kicking about in hamilton with a 1uz in it, so i would imagine it really wouldnt be that hard, be more pissing around than anything, with mounts

1j or 2j would be easier :lol:

im picking you have seen my mates c34 laurel with the 1uz and supercharger sticking out of the bonnet?

Like Jared said, talk to Niteb (Brendan). He's the Toyota guru here and has done a few V8 conversions into the JZX100 chassis :)

Yeah, jason browns blown laurel is fully sickko. yea, that was my other alternative, just get a bell housing to suite my trans and the ass end of the engine. Was gunna buy that x90 with the lexus in it too, tis quite clean.
yeah, id imagine id have to fuck around with engine mounts. gaayyyy.
Might just turbo the 1j.

Thanks fullas.

Hmm, I may have done one or ten of these before. Actually not too bad dude. I found going onto the GX crossmember to be a bit easier. Just use a front bowl LS400/celsiour engine setup & makes it pretty easy. Drivers side header is tight, etc etc. I think at one point I could do em for under $2500 drive in/out with customer supplying engine/auto!
But just be wary getting power out of 1UZ's is pricey. Supercharger/manifold/computer equals $$$. You will end up with about 200-210kw at the wheels weve found. Then a 1JZGTE standard with cooler/filter/exhaust makes the same power though!

+1 for staying jz, 1u's are cool but nothing on a jz.

that x9 with the uz in it is owned by a fellow toyota nut down here in np, it looks and sounds fuckin mean i must say.

could be pretty sick! and even if they make the same power would the supercharged v8 make heaps more touque? and then you would probly destroy a w series relatively quickly with a supercharged 1uz?
JZ = engine code
X = Chassis
71 = Series

therefore... jzx71

You dont go for a 1uz for power, you go 1uz for the sound

Dude I once had a 1uz in my car, honestly dont waste your time. They cost heaps to get any power out of them. Spend a bit more and put a 1jz in there. You will never look back.
