JZX110 Rear Speaker Removal (6x9)

Post by murdoko »

Hey guyz. I'm in the process of replacing the two factory 6x9s just behind the rear seats on the 'parcel tray' beside the air cleaner. Tried to remove the tray but I'm stuck!

I removed the rear seats to get access to the tray but I can't seem to fully detach it. Looked thru the boot but there's no screw or anything so I'm semi-sure I just need to pry plastic pin thingys off? not sure where.

Just wanna make sure I don't damage anything before I nudge it off. ugh! Once it's removed then I'm home and dry.

jzx110 mate. and yeah it's the 'carpet thingy' behind the rear seats about neck/head high.

It must be a plastic pin/plug somewhere but I don't want to break anything lol. I removed ones from x90s and x100s and they're fairly easy. x110s are completely different. ugh

I tried this again today, it looks like you have to remove rear seats and the rear side interior panels to get the whole carpet part out. The rear plastic speaker covers are held in by two plastic pins (two closest to back of seat) with a type of metal one-way ring clip (hope you follow what I mean) I couldn't be f'd pulling it all apart though :)

yeah I already did that.. but the parcel tray is still in tact for some reason. I can see the pins by bending the tray slightly but I don't want to force it. HAHA

haha yeah, I did try pressuring the pin out of the metal clip and ended up snapping it :( so just left it, It also looks like the holes dont line up to 6x9's, have you measured?

just an update on this if someone's looking at doing this, I spoke to Jason at Jap Spares a week back. He told me that the rear parcel tray is one of the first parts to go in the car so just remove everything that touches it then eventually it will come off..
