do you guyz know how i can clean my headlight to its original condition? left headlight is faded.

saw this headlight polishing kit in repco which removes all yellowed and faded wear on lenses and restores it to crystal clear state. probably has jus the right amount of abrasive to get it done. id say try that

I have always used "Meguiars PlastX" on faded/dirty headlights.
Its a polish designed for plastic parts.

I recently done the headlights on my ae101 levin, wet sanded with 1000 grit wet and dry paper then 1500 and finally 2000. After that gave em a good rub with autosol.
Came up really well but maybe the sanding was unnessesary.
My Mark II has a really yellow drivers headlight i might try polishing with the the autosol only, save the sanding.

Mine are yellowed inside too, anyone split lenses off lights before? Apparently it is straight forward, I think you just have to go slow etc...

If you're going to split them you need to put them in the oven! There's instructions on the aussie jzx forums somehwere. Something like 5 minutes at 150 degrees will melt the sealant that holds the lens to the body of the headlight.Fraud wrote:Mine are yellowed inside too, anyone split lenses off lights before? Cut and polish with a rotary buffer works best on the outside. Do this step first, if you find its still yellow then you will probably need to bake them and polish up the inside.
Inside is a bit harder due to confines and curves, can be done using toothpaste, brasso, plastic polish or normal cut and polish. Soft cloth or attachment on a dremel or drill if you have it. Need to open the headlight to get to it, can be either baked in the oven or use a heat gun around the join to soften the mastic and pry the two pieces apart. Just make sure to keep the mastic evenly coated and soften it again when you press back together to properly seal or you end up with condensation in your headlights.
