TRD LSD

Hey guys, didn't know where to put this as there isn't a driveline section heh.

Anyway, supposedly my car came with a TRD LSD. Initially it was tight etc, but recently it has become crap to the point it'll only lock up two wheels pretty much at full power.

I do intend to do a bit of drifting/racing with this car so I am looking at my options.

Anyone have a TRD LSD and rebuilt one themselves? Taking the diff out myself is no problem.
Anyone had experience with the TRD rebuild kits?
Im just afraid, I'll order the rebuild kit and after I take out the diff, find out its just a worn out factory torsen or something hah.

The diff is completely lacking over my previous Cusco 2-way GT Pro, so any suggestions would be great!

Sean I would recommend taking the diff out, and inspecting it first, so you know what you are dealing with, as TRD rebuild kits are fairly well priced ;)

If not, TRD LSDs are super cheap these days, $1280.00 including GST (used to RRP at $1866.36+GST for the 8.0" LSD not long ago!)

Or quoted from Northland Toyota $7500 +gst... but we can do that to you for $1500 on indent order

That was about a year ago

agree pull it out and inspect

find out if its a plate type lsd or mechanical lsd

take note as to which bearing and spacerd goes wear too, will make life alot easier when setting bearing pre-loads later on

Funny thing was I used TRD fluid in there as well. Not as cheap as normal fluid. I only use standard LSD oil in my other 2-way so its a tad weird. Oh well, still yet to take it out! Heh.

You can get Torsen rebuild kits, however judging by how they work I don't really see what there really is to wear out in the first place?
BTW, got a TRD LSD going in :)
