My Mark II was doing something similar when I put a BOV in, wouldn't idle but drove fine. Ripped it out and idle problem fixed. Bought my HKS SSQV, installed and all good so put it down to a faulty BOV

my 1jzgte did this too, not entirely sure what it was but guessing the throttle body cause i removed and cleaned it while i was doing all the other seals in the motor, also cleaned the idle valve 3 times to try fix the issue but made no difference. so yea thats 2 things to check now, leaky bov and TB, also check all vac hoses and boost hoses for leaks ;)

check the ECU.. after reading a few threads on the web, apparently this is quite common with 1JZs, even the VVTis. Check if there are any leaky capacitors. easy enough to check and resolder with new ones. ;)

Could depend if factory or converted. May be wired wrong etc. Sounds pretty simple though- prob just an idle level issue. Is it original Tourer V?
