Installing a TRD 2 way into factory 3.9 open Differential

Post by m989 »

Hey,

As per the title I would like to install a TRD 2 way center into my 3.9 auto housing.

From the research that ive done, these are the parts I will need:

41309-22090 Torsen differential side shafts

41301-MZ210 LSD Center.

Just wondered if I needed any other parts, maybe new seals for the side shafts etc?

Thanks for any input

You can get a trd centre to suit your open diff side shafts

FYI the shafts are $$$$$$$$$ from Toyota. I was going to do the same thing but opted for a complete torsen pumpkin for mine.

It drifts fine and is suprising quite tight - mine binds like a mechanical diff on tight u-turns and corners.

Why not just buy Mikes Torsen lsd on Trademe? - 4.1 will make it nice and responsive as well.

Do you happen to know which center will fit?

This car is also used as a daily driver so Id like to keep the 3.9 ratio as it uses quite a bit of gas since it got a manual box without me going to a 4.1 differential haha.

Nick @ north shore Toyota will be able to answer that.
Do you have an 8" open diff currently?

All I can say is bring back old Toyota diff codes.
What was wrong with G255 etc

To me B01B should be a torsen

I believe B01D is torsen. This B01B is an open wheeler, it will never spin two wheels.

100% sure B01B is open. Had one in my 110, replaced it with a torsen B01D I think.

What difference does it make going from 3.9 to 4.1?
