Engine light on jzx110

Post by shweatypox »

I got an issue where the Check Engine light comes on, not all the time but it seems to be happening more often. Only thing I've noticed is at idle, the car sounds like it drops a note (spark plugs?) it doesn't seem to effect driving performance, any ideas? An o2 sensor maybe?

more likely O2 sensor issues. Is there any difference in the vehicle response?

It seems perfectly fine while driving, just the idle sounds wrong

When my car wasn't idling right I cleaned the PCV valve and that fixed the problem. It didn't show the check engine light randomly while idling or affect driving at all.

Take it for a diagnostic scan?

Or short E1 & TE1 on the diagnostic plug. Could be a clogged afm. O2s dont affect idle.

Look in the engine bay between LHS strut tower and inlet maniold for a black box 1x4inch marked "Diagnosis". Short terminal E1 and TE1 (pinout under flap). Turn ignition on. Watch engine light for codes.

I'm aware of the process, but (unlike JZX100 and older) JZX110 don't have the diagnostic box in engine bay. Only an ODB2 port in the driver's kick panel.

you can also short pin 13 and 4 on the DLC connector to retrieve error codes. To clear them press the brake pedal in quick succession within 5 seconds. That being said I would highly advise you to get the car diagnosed using a scan tool. If you're down Pakuranga/Howick way, drop by my work on Thursday or Friday and i'll scan it for you.
