Hey everyone,

Image

Name: Sam
Where your from: West Auckland
What you do: Commercial Baker
Car you own: JZX100 Chaser
Mods and future plans: Manual conversion! LSD
Next car you want to buy: Hahaha good joke :P
Why you joined JZX NZ: Meet other JZX enthusiasts

Ok so heres my JZ100 i've owned for 1 year now. When i got it it was stock standard sitting on 15x5s fresh off the boat from Japan. Back then it was a 1JZ-GE with its only fault being a little bit of dash lift.

July 2011 the transformation began with 35% tints all round, new sounds and alarm. Also had the windscreen removed to fix the dash. Smith and Smith broke it while trying to remove so got a new one free :)

September 2011 got my hands on a 2JZ-GTE VVT-I Aristo front cut with auto trans and thought i'd get it installed within a couple of weeks.... heh :/

Finally got it all installed and wired up just in time for Christmas sitting on 17x8 BBS RG-Rs and BC Golds

how difficult is the 2jz conversion into the 100 series?
the thought did cross my mind one day when i decide to chase lots more power :)

i like it! Sleeper

Cheers :) The sleeper look is exactly what i'm going for.

The 2J conversion wasn't overly difficult and wiring was a breeze. The only problems I ran into stemmed from the block sitting quite far back on its mounts. So it only just clears the steering rod, also it was touching the brake booster which was causing vibrations right through the peddle box not to mention the heat can't be good for the booster. Theres no space to move the engine forward due to massive electric fan unit so i hunted out a slightly smaller booster with a similar master cyl bore size. the 1J has a 1" bore and the one i got has a 15/16" bore so no difference in braking performance.

The only other alternative is to have the turbo collector remade to clear the booster and steering rod haha.

That's awesome, love it!
What was involved in wiring it up? Did you adapt your stock loom or modify the Aristo loom?

damn i got a tourer s in the same colour and u have done what i wanted to do to mine once i sell my other car. i guess the 2jz is a huge step up from the non turbo 1j?

still tossing up whether to turbo first or go manual first though.

I just adapted my original 1jz loom, extended it into the engine bay from behind the a/c and spliced it into the aristo ecu.
Was nothing too major haha.

The power difference is rediculous! The 2JZ is the king of Japanese engines haha

Yeah i could never decide weather to go 2J or manual first but this front cut popped up and i had to jump on it. As soon as a decent manual package comes up i'll be keen to jump on that as well.

Manual first I reckon, but yeah if a good deal on a front cut or conversion package comes up it'd be hard to resist jumping at it haha. I'll be going the manual n/a 2J route for now. A lightweight flywheel, decent clutch and 4.5 diff.. should go alright I reckon 8-)

Did the Aristo trans work fine (does the auto shifter come up in the right place?) Just rocking a single spinner for now?

I'm sure it will :D
The aristo trans is the same as a turbo 1jz trans but with a tiptronic shifter. I had to shorten the I used my original 1j shifter and modified the linkage to match up cos i didn't want the tiptronic crap. but yeah its a very nice smooth transmission.

At the moment its a single spinner but looking at buying a 1jz-gte complete subframe and B02B diff to install
