Dom's JZX100
Dom's JZX100
I bought this about a year ago off a chick which i thought was quite unusual, even had a child's car seat in the back lol.
So basically when I bought it this was how it stood:
1998 JZX100 Chaser Tourer V
1JZ-GTE automatic
Tein adjustables
Torsen
19x8.5 +38 225/35/19 front
19x9.5 +38 225/35/19 rear
3" stainless catback exhaust
Greddy FMI
Front strut brace
Cheap no name BOV
Sard air filter
Blitz boost guage
Some sort of body kit
TRD rear wing
Tinted windows
Photos of the day I bought it:

I didn't really like the look of the TRD wing, so next I removed that:

And then there were THREE

And one of these

And all of these

Manual conversion didn't go as smoothly as I had thought. All of my pieces came from a JZX90 and there are the differences I found:
JZX90 pedal box made brake pedal way too high. I ended up cutting down the automatic brake pedal.
JZX90 driveshaft uses a different sized hanger bearing mount which isnt compatible with the JZX100 tunnel.
I also got new ARP flywheel bolts (they were 4AGE items) and filled the box with Redline gear oil.
In the end everything worked out fine and OMG what a difference the R154 box made to the car. It was like driving a new car for the first couple of weeks, I couldn't stop grinning every time I drove it
Decided that I wanted a more "clean" look, so pulled the TRD decal off the bonnet:

Took it to the drag strip, only got 3 runs in before it was rained out. Best time was 14.351 @ 162km/h on shit tyres. Once I get my launches sorted and with the new 235/35/19 tyres I've put on the rear getting into the 13s is a sure thing.
So she didn't like the drag strip too much as I found out the next day:

Luckily FLAWLES had a spare turbo which he was willing to swap with my old automatic gearbox, which got me moving again. This turbo was great, it spooled noticeably quicker than the old one. Then one drunken night I thought it was a good idea to give the car shit whilst it was cold, and spat the turbine wheel down the exhaust:

Had to fish all this out of the cat

So I was left with 2 busted turbos and 1 sad chaser
I weighed up my options with getting an after market turbo but finding an aftermarket manifold for the vvti proved to be hard so I spoke to Steve Murch (turbo god) about rebuilding me a turbo out of my two busted turbos, the outcome was this:

Fully rebuilt, but most importantly a STEEL turbine wheel:

While the chaser was off the road waiting for the turbo to be rebuilt I painted the centers of the rims black:

And got some personalised plates:

Re: Dom's JZX100
haha yep ive replaced it with a proper pod filter now, the sard air filter which was on it was just a fine mesh cone at the front and thats part of the reason my turbo was so badly worn.VR25 wrote:Hope you've changed that intake since you bought it !!!
yep, done the manual conversion myself, was pretty painless and yeh they are quite pricey, mine cost about 3500 with all second hand parts. the conversion parts were from a x90 and some didnt fit so keep that in mind (brake pedal height and driveshaft hanger bearing).Alex wrote:nice car, did you do the manual conversion yourself?

Haha nah no BN kit, they are way too massive. Definitely getting better offset rims though when ive got some money.Sam wrote:This would look awesome with more aggressive offset and a BN kit and super slammed.
