Hey guys.

It's been far far too long, it must be time for another update..

There's been a heap of things happen with this 110 over the past few months, some good and some bad.
Before I start I'm going to have to apologize in advance for the terrible quality photos.. Some better ones will be up shortly.

We left off here...

Most of you would have seen me at a meet or two down in Auckland in the past, with the car looking like the above..
I felt pretty damn happy about how it looked and drove, and simply had dreams of manual-ness and big power; so I started collecting parts for what was to come.

...and then this happened...

Image

Now I accept that it doesn't look bad from here. However, on closer inspection its hard to describe just how bent it was.
Both rear chassis rails were bent, the spare wheel made its way forward to nearly under the back seat... and the quarters were bent all funny, im surprised the back window didn't pop out.
(Watch out for speeding Kids in RX8's who are texting and feel like rear ending you at traffic lights...)

Anyway, after a few days of waiting and being forced to wear an ugly neck brace thingy because of the whiplash (it was a hella hard hit) they found a rear half, presumably from a galaxy far far away.. and the repair went underway.

Rather than returning it to it's former shape.. I decided to use this opportunity to make some changes to make said collision a positive thing.

Did some simple stuff... Debadged and filled holes; Removed spoiler; New high stop light; Slightly smoked the taillights (not much darker than fortuna ones).

Image

Also decided I wanted a pretty massive pump on the rear guards.. So I ended up pulling them out about 25mm before repaint, and cut the lips off.
They came out looking surprisingly good.

Image

Sorry I don't have any better photos of how it looked.

So I was happy again, car back and stuff, but now my little 17x8's Looked pretty weak.. (In the photo above the rears had a pair of 25mm spacers, and that still didn't help)

I was pretty keen to buy some decent size CR-Kai's, because I quite like the 5 twin-spoke look on these, with a bit of concave.

But then this happened.

Cosmis came to NZ, and after seeing them on Fanga's car, and having a chat to him, he seemed to think Cosmis were actually pretty decent, and damn hard to bend.
So after doing my homework, and working out that a 18x9 in 26p with a 235/40R18 would barely fit on the front of a JZX110, and a 18x10.5 20p with a 265/35R18 would definitely not fit on the rear; I proceeded to purchase said stupid width wheels and tyres.

So once they were fitted up, I had to laugh at how much the rears stuck out past my already lipped-rolled-and-pumped guards..
(Sorry, no photo, I was far too excited)
After a few hard nights in the shed... I managed to get them on...ish..

Yeahhhh I tried but it didn't drive like that...

But it did drive like this.

I will get more photos when these storms pass..
These photos really do NOT do it anyyy justice.

Let me know what you think!

Hey Shannon, bummer about the accident but its nice how the story had a good upside. One jzx110 already has been written off in New Plymouth. Those concave wheels look really nice but driving it around with passengers would be kinda risky. I guess you could always change to cr-kais later. Have u done anything to the engine? Does your car have a LSD? Good luck man. Hope the storm ends soon :)

Hey man :)
Yeah i was pretty worried about the wheels and height too, but ive already done several long distance trips like that 5-up and they have been sweet :) dont even rub at all. Still slides on the 10.5s too which is surprising. Its got a terrible torsen in it bro, still spins both pretty much always. Yeah ive done heaps to the engine now actually. And nearly ready for manual and ecu+tune.. Ill update when it happens :)

Those wheels look good on it man!
Funny enough the AA inspector that I use for work was talking about your car and how it got rear ended. Hardcase!

Those wheels are a perfect match! Congrats in fitting such a big wheel/tyre combo in the rear!

Very nice Shannon! Saw this in Tiki coupla weeks ago.

Let me know if you wanna head out and get some good photos of it if you haven't got a decent camera... Maybe Logan could even give his its yearly wash and park it along side :P
