Back on the dyno again this time to chase some extra power. Found another 25kw, with less boost too! (1 bar)
Result: 225kw

The figures aren't bad considering Soichi's dyno normally reads around 10% lower than most other Auckland based Dynos and it was extremely humid as well at the time (94%)

Next mods: pull it apart and freshen up for more power! Looking at a few different options at the moment with turbo chargers too. It will either be a MSE Highflow, Tomei M8280 or Holset HX35

After researching different turbo combinations with the 1JZ I decided I wanted a setup which was responsive but provided a good kick in the balls when you put your foot on it.

The decision was made and I bought a Tomei M8280 from FRSport.com..

Plenty of people using the turbo with great success. It's one of very few turbos which also fit onto the original Toyota manifold and comes with EVERYTHING you need for a seamless install (lines, gaskets, instructions) + is a fraction of the cost compared to other similar turbos (GT2835, K1380 etc..)

With the goals I have in mind, this turbo will definitely tick the boxes as it has made a proven 500hp atw and my eventual goal is around the 350kw mark which is not far off.

Some very good reads into the product. Tomei JP and USA have provided plenty of resources around the product and gives the end user a clear expectation of the product + development.

I also ordered some Tomei Pon Cams to match the turbo and already have a custom downpipe based on the Tomei design. The combo together with 1.9bar (27psi~!!) has made 506hp on a US based D1 car which proves that keeping it simple works best.

Can't wait!

Is the stock 1JZ exhaust manifold suitable for 350kw or does it need a custom one?

There was no mention on http://www.tomeiusa.com/recentmail.asp?mid=587 about requiring an aftermarket manifold to achieve the 506hp on Nick D'alessio's 1JZ VVTi S13 however i'm waiting on testing from katsutadai works's oem replacement 6-1 header as I may get one if there is a noticeable gain.
