JZX100 Chaser Tourer V

Post by ~Slideways~ »

Where you're from: Wgtn
What you do: IT
Car you own: JZX100 Chaser, AE92 Trueno GTZ Turbo, BJ73 Landcruiser
Mods and future plans: Only had the Chaser for a week but so I've found an Apexi panel filter, aftermarket rear silencer which is too droney, and suspect aftermarket springs because it handles better than expected. Plan to make up a mild steel freeflow exhaust, which is quiet at part throttle but a nice straight 6 howl at WOT. Bit more boost and just enjoy it.
Next car you want to buy: Just got this one.
Why you joined JZX NZ: Just bought a Chaser after keeping my eye out and found this forum.

Will get some photo's soon.

It has some 18x8 Advanti wheels which don't really suit my preference in alloys but they might grow on me, would prefer some 17x9 light weight wheels.

EDIT: remembered I had some photo's on my phone, pretty bad photo's but they'll do for now.

Welcome 8-)

Good to see more of these popping up, too bad they will never out number skylines.
Im guessing this is a 1996? looks very similar to mine (also a 1996), is it an auto or converted manual?

Welcome and nice car!
This JZX100 was the one which came into NZ with my 100 a few years back. Very tidy!

Small world! I had a feeling this might be the case, I saw a comment somewhere that your's came from Invercargill and had been sitting for a few years after being imported before laws changed. Which is the same case with mine, it sat for a few years before being registered.

Ride height is the same, but they must be after market springs or shocks because they are much heavier than I'd expect.

Since it has a Hosaka Tuning Factory sticker I thought I'd have a look to see what I can find. It goes really well so thought maybe ecu or something but checked last night and its standard. Only visible changes look to be an Apexi filter! So I guess they are just good engines. No boost controller, actuator looks standard (hard to see though).

Will be going for a 3" down pipe etc to free it up a bit though.

Sure is! Mine did come from Invercargill and sat on their yard for 2 years before it was registered.

the 3" downpipe makes a huge difference! I don't think I gained much more butt dyno power with it as I already had a 3" exhasut but the turbo lag does decrease which really wakes the motor up as it hits peak torque ridiculously low with the VVTi

You're lucky you got the R154 one! ;)

Did you fit one of the Sinco ones I've read about on here? I'd like one but not sure if they are still available, I'd make the rest of the exhaust myself though.
