l SIC l wrote:Hey, yeah I'd be keen eh - my engine is untouched and just has the 3" HKS hi-power exhaust system (minus the front pipe to avoid over-boosting) as its performance mod so far :D

I'm hosting a dyno day for our Supra forums on the 12th of February at ST hi-tec, so it'll be interesting to see the results before I begin modifying :)

Good stuff, I'm also running 3 inch, but instead of stock front pipe I went and changed to twin 2.5 inch exits off the turbos, result is over boost needing boost cut controller... Have fitted safc and walbro fuel pump and just need to tune it, would I be allowed at the dyno day?

Hey, sounds good - definitely need to keep note of the boost creep though as your turbos probably won't give you much warning once they decide to let go :?

If you want to you can definitely come along, we only have like 5-6 cars running anyway (still 30-45 minutes each though) - so with you, that would be all the slots filled in :) It will be around 9:00 - 9:30 am on the 12th February and it costs $90 to run (yeah, no discount for us lol) - I take you know where ST Hi-Tec is, yeah?

Hey Escortman - good news you are sticking with the conversion dude, look forward to seeing it all done. Will you be running a twin-plate clutch? Your W58 will be more predictable (only necessary over 400hp though apparently :)) - I liked my Exedy clutch on my 5-speed N/A, as soft as stock pretty much (I don't know what it cost the previous owner though). Probably unnecessary for a while though and Reith on Supra forums has been running his W58 without issues for a few years now with a T61 single, including a couple of track days and a trip or two to the drag strip.

am i right in understanding the stuff ive read online that the japanese 2jz's turbos will handle up to 18psi, and will only fail if you exceed that? boost goes as far as 16psi right now before settling down as revs climb, but i havent done that too often as ive been waiting to get her on the dyno to make sure all mixtures are safe

if its 30-45min per car, sounds like hes doing more than just one run per car for a reading? will soichi be doing light tuning as well? $$ is fine, but yeah i dont actually know where ST Hitec is, ive never been heh

definitely keen so pencil me in tho!

Sweet sounds good - the address is: 20a Sylvia Park Road, Mt. Wellington. I don't know if he will be doing any light tuning, but I know he uses a dynapack dyno (probably why it takes a little while longer to set up) and it includes; Power, Torque, Boost, A/F ratio, Speed, etc.

The JDM ceramic turbos can handle 18 psi correct, but if held at that rate for a few months, you can expect them to give in - if not, soon after. In saying this, people have run 18 psi for over a year with no issues (these are a very limited few though and not accurate for 90% of people). The upper limit to safely run ceramic CT20s is estimated at 15 psi, any higher and it's just a waiting game really :? If you are interested in sticking with stock turbos, then steel-wheeling your existing ones or just replacing them with USDM steel-bladed turbos is the way to go mate - especially running over 15 psi.

I would go remote-shift R154 mate, I would've held my red RZ-s if I went the same route as you are considering but even if you do all the labor, you are still looking around 10k+ for a GETRAG conversion? :?
