JZX81 gurus

Post by BlakeNZ »

Any JZX81 fans out there? A few questions...
Firstly, i always thought the jzx81 GT had an electronic dash, but recently i saw a youtube vid of a turbo hardtop that had analogue speedo and rev dials in its cluster. it was a '91 or '92 model from memory. Does anyone know what came with what?
Also, i like the sedans, rather than the hardtops. Is the sedan only available in the mark II, or were they also offered in the cresta and chaser? (all the cresta and chasers i see ,seem to be hard tops).
Lastly, do you know of anyone with a genuine 1jzgte jzx81 GT sedan(same body shape as MX83 cressida), as i'd like to view one in person?
cheers for any help you can give.

well , one guy has told me that he thinks the jzx81 GT (turbo version) was only ever made in the hardtop version, not in a sedan (basically the hardtop has pillarless doors, and the boot shape is slightly longer/differently styled).
However, I'm pretty sure I've seen a sedan version, bog stock, same shape as a cressida MX83, but with the 1jzgte in it. But it was a few years ago, so I could've been mistaken. Does any one know for sure?

pretty much all you need to know is on a few handy sites i use:

http://jp-carparts.com/toyota/carlist.php?maker=toyota
http://www.toyodiy.com/
http://www.japaneseusedcars.com/car_spe ... alogue.htm

have a GOOD look through them and all your questions are answered 8-)

the sedan/hardtop thing is markII specific as the markII comes both sedan and hardtop whereas the cresta is just a sedan but its own unique shape, and the chaser is a hardtop, interestingly enough tho the chaser and the markII hardtop share the same body lines so the front ends can be swapped without any modification they just bolt on.

the jzx81 markII gt only came as a hardtop, and had both digi and analogue dash, also the chaser and cresta came out jzx81 gt too i guess thats your sedan right there

i have a jzx81 gt if your interested in more info about them
