Car is actually a LX80 , but is set up for a 1jz/ 2jz (front sump). It's a 1989 Mk II sedan, LX80 in white, very straight, but parked up for 13 years. Has JZX81 front cross member and engine mounts, currently set up for a Soarer auto trans, and has custom driveshaft, hoop, Hiace rear axle engineered ...

Re: JZX81 gurus
well , one guy has told me that he thinks the jzx81 GT (turbo version) was only ever made in the hardtop version, not in a sedan (basically the hardtop has pillarless doors, and the boot shape is slightly longer/differently styled). However, I'm pretty sure I've seen a sedan version, bog stock, same...

JZX81 gurus
Any JZX81 fans out there? A few questions... Firstly, i always thought the jzx81 GT had an electronic dash, but recently i saw a youtube vid of a turbo hardtop that had analogue speedo and rev dials in its cluster. it was a '91 or '92 model from memory. Does anyone know what came with what? Also, i ...

Re: JZX100 Multiple Problems
it's actually great to drive a normal car for a while, and when you get behind the wheel of a 1jzgte, you experience the WOW factor all over again. Addictive acceleration, mountains of torque etc etc.

Re: JZX100 Multiple Problems
no, not the seat. The throat is the bit that surrounds the valve stem. If you looked into the exhaust port, it would be near the top of the port. If 250 kw will do you, then perhaps don't bother doing the throats. Any of the porting guys can do the throats, if you are keen to have a go, get them to ...

Re: JZX100 Multiple Problems
since you are spending the money, ask them how much extra it would cost to have the valves' "throats cut"? ONLY on the exhaust side, will give the biggest gain and save money. It gives 85% of the gain of porting the head, but is far quicker, so reduces cost.

Re: JZX100 Multiple Problems
there's a few tips on the net about how to de gunge the top end of the motor. (IMHO better to do it physically than put a engine oil flush through it) Will be great to get that all cleaned out. Get those shims replaced with ones to bring it into the correct tolerances, and you should be OK. you have...

Re: JZX100 Multiple Problems
those compression figures are fine , in fact i'd say pretty healthy for 250k Km. Change your oil more frequently to see if you can flush out the black oil. Pull the engine oil filler cap off at idle. How bad is the blow by, and does the noise get (much) louder? keep a sample from your next oil chang...
